Heroes of the Age of Day
There are currently 7 factions with 7 tiers of units, totaling 49 unique units to hire and fight against and 27 unique positive and negative traits to give depth to your decisions and strategy, along with 34 achievements to unlock. All progress is saved after each run so you can return to your game later. Playable in browser or downloadable.
After hiring units in town, you arrange your units in a formation that best utilizes their stats and traits to fight the AI in waves of increasing difficulty. When you win combats, you will gain drops of light which can be spent to unlock new game features. If you have trouble understanding the mechanics, click on the "info" or "stats" buttons and navigate to "mechanics" to get an overview of how the game works. You can also navigate to "traits" to get a description of all 27 unique traits.
This is not the kind of game I usually make, but it's a lot more easy to think about when the world is falling apart around you. I will likely continue to update this when I cannot concentrate on my main projects.

the look is so cool! but the game is no so much ... all random
This is literally my second run, hadnt been able to buy anything after the first run... i'm... impressed.
And then this happened:
Yeah my units just happened to get reaping and... now this monstrosity lives... honestly i dont know how i feel about reaping... like it's good because basically you get a tankier unit... but you're loosing out on the skills that your other unit had... honestly not a fan of it but oh well.
That's so wild. People like you are much better than me at it. The game keeps getting posts like this and I can't do nearly that well lol
Pretty fun, but it sort of just... crashed after a bit... i managed to make two very strong units, about 400+ atk or so, the only real dangers and when a unit gets reaping, which i'm not sure if will essentially make all the abilities in the reaped unit just... poof out or are they acquired too?
First of all: Very fun game! As far as autobattlers go this is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for, aside from maybe more individual unit customization. Super super fun to play.
Second of all: Just grabbing the achievement from the light store didn't feel like enough of a victory to me, since I mostly just got my ass kicked until I had enough cash. I wanted to feel like I had actually 'beaten' the game even though it was endless, fortunately for me, I accidentally had this run;
Which I've decided to take as a 'win.' I just sort of hooked up a mage with some good items, got lucky with what traits the mage rolled at first, and quickly snowballed into insanity.
I'm really glad you liked it. Everybody seems to be so much better at the game than I am lol I have never gotten nearly as good a run as that.
I enjoyed playing your game. Usually permadeath autobattlers feel bad, but the reverse side is that in Heroes of the Age of the Day, units gain permanent stat and trait increases every round, even if they're sitting on the bench.
After my 3rd attempt I understood the basics well enough and stopped accidentally combining units or purchasing items when I was trying to read!
I had enough DoL (long term currency) to buy a 2nd bench slot and the item unlock to get +5 range/damage/health.
I went all on on a hellhound with +5 range after it had assassin then purchased all tanks to keep him around. Satyrs/Wolfriders have nimble to guarantee tanking a few hits, while earth elementals w/ defender parked behind the carry hellhound kept him alive from opposing volleys/snipes/return fire.
Eventually you get so much gold and the store was so small I can could just keep selling units off so I could repurchase (refresh) 2 nimble wolfriders to tank the front and earth elementals as they died off. The hellhound eventually got every buff and was sitting at 130+ attack with cleave/snipe/assassin and 9 range so he just AoE'd down the opposing board every turn.
Got up to round 51 before I let the team die off. Had around 3100 DoL currency afterwards, so the scaling went a bit nuts there! I cleaned out the achievement store, so I guess I've beaten the beta :D
Nicely made, playable, simple mechanics but long term complexity and strategic depth is available. Visuals and audio match the theme.
Only bug I encountered was having to occasionally name a creature twice.
Thanks for making it :)
That's awesome. I think it's funny to me that people who play this all seem to be much better at it than me lol
Very promising game!
Some critique:
* Merging and applying items on units should have a confirmation box with a preview, I have accidentally merged or applied items I dodn't want to simply by forgetting that it was selected. In the case with the merger it was the wrong one that was kept with the bad stats
* The game is quite challenging in the beginning, but once you overcome the first 10-15 rounds the enemies stops getting more difficult. They should instead scale and the units you buy should also scale (and become more expensive), I was on round 170 when I decided to just abondon the run. Ofcourse the money reward should scale as well.
* add a log so you can analyze what happened during the previous fight
* Allow us to fast forward messages.
Great mechanic and good overall :)

I believe I got to around round 40+, my setup hard carried the hell out of my run, unfortunately it froze :(. I was planning on getting to round 50 before abandoning the run, as I was still needing to buy stuff from the Shop. RIP
Great game though for real, there's so much more potential for it too, I hope to see more but if not it was fun regardless!
Hell yeah. Sorry about the crash, I'll look into that. I am working on another game right now, but my thoughts keep coming back to this game so I'll probably try to update it when I'm done, maybe with a campaign mode.
Nice game. :)
Only could get strength up 84 :(
AWESOME. lol what unit was it?
Air, eventually I just got bored and killed him(took 3 rounds lmao).
Fuck, I like your music from bandcamp.
Awesome. I'm glad you're enjoying it. I'm probably going to post a hotfix in a couple hours that will remove move of the negative effects of higher tier items. I'll also speed up the text and the transitions in it. I'm working on a bigger update right now with a campaign mode where you'll have traverse a few maps.
Have just been bugged. The game has frozen, I post the image of the moment: Maybe, can help.
I like your game so much, but (in my opinion) the animations between scenes are so slow. There would be better if they were faster: Better flow, you know.
Happen the same with the text. I feel it slow.
Each update brings more interesting mechanics and has made the game more fun. The gameplay loop of trying to win battles and keep your units alive, making them more powerful is very addictive. it feels very satisfying to bring a lowly tier one unit to near godhood in destructive capability, only for them to be thwarted by the ever escalating difficulty. It masters the "one more round" feel that keeps you going.
U no it, bb!
Pretty cool game, I love the variety of units!
Glad you like it!
I get so sad when my units die :(
But other than that it's a very good game to play while engrossed in an audiobook and/or obsessively listening to the news.
I can't wait to get enough drops of light to win the Beta!
I won!
I knew you could. I believed in you.
